Day Trips From Dallas & Aubrey

Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch in Pilot Point, Texas. Part of a beautiful 126-acre ranch, this incredible destination is open to the public every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (weather permitting). You’ll find more than 180 animals, including rare and exotic wildlife such as alpacas, whitetail deer, and zebra. The ranch offers guided tours, seasonal events, and beautiful gardens as far as the eye can see.

Firelight Vineyards in Valley View, Texas. If you haven’t already experienced the flavor of Texas Wine Country, there’s no better place to start than this gorgeous vineyard just outside Fort Worth. While you’re there, grab lunch at the vineyard’s delicious bistro and enjoy a quiet, carefree day of relaxation—and wine—while soaking in the Texas countryside.

The French Farmhouse Inn in Collinsville, Texas. Sure, it may have been designed primarily as a wedding venue, but this incredible French-inspired farmhouse is perfect for a day trip of exploration and enchantment. It boasts beautiful oaks, a covered bridge, a three-acre lake, and much more. Just be sure to check before you go and make sure that it’s not hosting a wedding that day!

Lone Star Lodge and Marina in Pilot Point, Texas. Whether you’re booking rooms for the weekend or just want to spend a few hours on the Grand Back Patio overlooking Lake Ray Roberts, the Lone Star Lodge and Marina is an ideal destination for the whole family. It offers lodging, food, and plenty to see and do, all located right on the 500-acre Jordan State Park.

National Videogame Museum in Frisco, Texas. Of course, the kids will love the National Videogame Museum, which features games from yesteryear alongside the games of today and tantalizing glimpses at the direction the industry is headed next, but we think plenty of adults will enjoy reconnecting with some of their old favorites here, too.

Texas Sculpture Garden in Frisco, Texas. Home to more than 40 pieces of contemporary sculpture, this four-acre development—part of the larger HALL Park—is the largest private collection of work by contemporary Texas sculptors ever assembled and made available. It’s open to the public year-round. Come expand your horizons with some amazing local artwork!

Preston Trail Farms in Gunter, Texas. There’s always something for the whole family at Preston Trail Farms, whether that’s visiting with Santa around the holidays or walking through the pumpkin patch in the fall. You can visit the petting zoo or grab a bite to eat at the Trails Café all year round!

Atomic Candy in Denton, Texas. If you have a serious sweet tooth, Atomic Candy is the place to be. It features more candy than you can imagine—Willy Wonka himself would be impressed—plus novelties and cool gifts galore! A perfect stop for the young and the young-at-heart, Atomic Candy needs to be on your summer road trip itinerary.

These are just a few of the many fun places to go on day trips from Dallas or weekend trips from Aubrey, Texas.
