Back Home. Back to Nature.

March 2019

Moving day has come and gone, and we are officially residents of Sandbrock Ranch! It seems like yesterday that we visited the model homes and decided to build here. The time has flown by! If you are looking to move right away, there are some beautiful homes ready now. But, if you’re like us, we had time in our favor and so we chose to build from the ground up. I’m so glad we did, because it turns out I needed those months to get organized for the big move!

How long has it been since you’ve gone through every closet and cabinet in your home? It takes longer than you think! As organized as I like to think I am, it’s been almost 20 years since we’ve moved, and it was time to tackle it all. Stumped on how to get started? Google Marie Kondo — she’s an amazing expert on the subject of home organization. I read her books a few years ago, and recently watched her Netflix series. It inspired me with new energy to look at my possessions with fresh eyes. I was ready to identify those things that sparked joy!

The biggest item that brings happiness to me is, of course, my new home. I wanted everything that came through its doors to also have that same positivity. I made it my mission over the past several months to pack and purge all of our belongings. Warning — sentimental things are the hardest, so save them until last! Bubble wrap and packing tape became my new friends. In fact, I had to go repurchase these essentials several times. We were amazed at how much we sold, donated or chunked. I felt lighter and freer with every carload I took to our donation center. It helped me feel like I was making progress toward my new life at Sandbrock Ranch.

Moving is stressful, but it has been well worth it. I wake up in the morning and look out my window at this amazing community taking shape. The treetops softly sway in the country breeze, and my friend the red-tailed hawk still flies by overhead to remind me I’m on the right path in life. Spring will be here any day now. The flowers will blossom, the leaves will turn green and the grass will grow. And Carriage House is now open – our amenity complex where we can relax with neighbors, go for a dip in the pool, get in a workout, or cast a line in the lakes nearby. Getting back to nature is part of my new life at the ranch, and I’m ready for it to begin.

If you’re ready to make a change in your life, I heartily recommend it. It’s beautiful here at the ranch, and with every new day that passes, I know I’ve made the right decision. Moving forward and embracing what lies ahead can be scary but also thrilling. Life is a lot like driving a car – it’s ok to occasionally look in that rear-view mirror, but it’s wise to keep your eyes mainly on the road ahead. My head and my heart are facing forward, to this new life at Sandbrock Ranch and all the fun that awaits.
