Our Home Search, From the Beginning…
So it turns out I actually don’t have the guts to take on a fixer upper. While I still consider myself a super fan of the show and the family behind it, I’ve come to the realization that I’m just not cut out for the mess and chaos of home renovation.
About two years ago, we had a plumbing issue in our home that caused us to rip out flooring and go through the painful process of demolition and reconstruction. Can I just tell you, I still have bad dreams about that? So when it came time for us to consider a move, I knew one thing for sure – it was going to be a new home or nothing.
Living in one of the fastest-growing areas of the nation can be exciting but also exhausting. As we began our new home search, one thing was certain – that our next home wouldn’t just be about the home itself. I wanted badly to reconnect with the beauty and tranquility of nature. That conclusion came one day as I was sitting in traffic, staring at all the concrete and lines of cars that boxed me in. Sound familiar?
One afternoon, we took a drive and found ourselves in horse country, just minutes from where we live now. The stress seemed to melt away as I gazed at fields of green floating past my window. Herds of cows spotted the pastures and we even saw some baby calves still nursing from their mothers. Then we saw beautiful white cross-buck fencing in the distance ahead, and realized it was the entrance into Sandbrock Ranch. Be still, my heart!
Next up…our drive through Sandbrock Ranch and what we saw next that got us so excited!
